New legislation passed this spring at the Alberta Legislature requires watercraft owners to remover the drain plug from their boat every time the boat is out of the water and being transported.

We have been fortunate that to-date no Zebra or Quagga mussels have found their way into Alberta lakes. Standing water in the bottom of a boat can be the perfect habitat for these invasive species to survive in, draining that area is one more step we can all take to ensure we keep these critters stay out of our province.
